The Comfort Maple Tree

Over the years I have gained some sort of comfort from looking at the image of this great Maple tree.  It was a local attraction of sorts.  For me it represented what I wanted to eventually came to know.  The grand wooden beasts of British Columbia.

I paraphrase what was written on the The Comfort Maple sign:  This tree believed to be Canada’s oldest Sugar Maple (Acer Saccharum) was accepted for its preservation 30 April 1961.  By the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority from Miss Edna Comfort.  Whose family have owned the land since 1816. Reserved; this plot of land in 1946.

The sculptural form the root cluster of this tree takes on.  An embrace of the mind with the forms and twists of the wood.  On a beach with the smoothest black rocks that have ever been encountered.  Winter Harbour, British Columbia.  Pentax & Film

A young photographer realizes; one must be comfortable with discomfort. Stable four second analog exposure.  Pentax, Agfa Ultra 50 ;) and wet boots.
